Primo’s Donuts: Best Donuts in LA, you say?
I hate to say it, but I’m a sucker when it comes to advertisements. So, what do you think happened when I saw a sign that read, “Primo’s Best Donuts in LA since 1956”?
Is Primo’s Donuts really the best?
Primo’s Donuts is located right on Sawtelle Blvd, off the corner of National Blvd in Mar Vista. It’s a really cute and charming shop filled with a variety of freshly baked donuts. We usually judge a doughnut shop by their glaze, so naturally, my boyfriend and I gravitated to those. We were planning on grabbing a doughnut each, but after speaking with the owner Ralph, we actually ended up going home with a box of 8 (2 of which were on the house). Ralph was super friendly and made a simple doughnut run into an awesome experience. He gave us a little background about the history of the shop and guided us with picking some of their best-sellers.
We ended up going home with the buttermilk, glazed, cinnamon twist, jelly-filled, cinnamon butterflies, and chocolate (from the left clockwise). Ralph recommended the buttermilk donut since that is what they are known for. I’m so glad he did because it was delicious. The more bites I took, the more I fell in love with it. I’m usually not a big fan of the “cakey” doughnut but this one was so moist and the contrast of the crunchy sweet outside with the soft fluffy inside was delish. I would definitely recommend getting a half dozen/dozen and try a bite of each to find your favorite.
I told Ralph that I was starting a blog and he was kind enough to pose for me. Awesome guy! What a great way to start my blogging life.
Go try Primo’s Donuts and see if they really are the best in LA.
